LOMF Division

Our Story

Janis Clark is the founder and visionary of Safe Homes, a 501(c) (3), community-based, non-profit organization, initially addressing the needs of at-risk youth and their families in the Hilltop area of Tacoma, Washington since 1995. She established a new division of Safe Homes in 2009, Ladies Operation Moving Forward (LOMF) that specifically concentrates on the needs of our women veterans as they transition back to lives outside of the military.

With 30 plus years of military service under her belt, Janis understands the unique needs of our women veterans and how these needs are often overlooked or misunderstood. Janis is a survivor of Military Sexual Trauma (MST) and is a 100% service-connected disabled veteran with a diagnosis of PTSD with Depression because of the MST. These needs include housing, employment, Post Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) and Military Sexual Trauma (MST) counseling. With Janis’ steadfast commitment, LOMF will address these issues by providing emergency, transitional and permanent housing, culinary arts training, job training, life skills training, counseling, and therapeutic classes.

Supporting Our Women Veterans

In 2009, Safe Homes Board of Director’s under the leadership of the Founder/President & Visionary commissioned and adopted the second Division of Safe Homes coined, “Ladies Operation Moving Forward (LOMF). This Division specifically concentrates on the needs of our women veterans in an “unparalleled holistic approach” as they transition back to lives outside of the military.

With three decades of military service under her belt, Janis understands the unique needs of all veterans, especially women veterans and how these needs are often overlooked, misunderstood and a lack of equitable access to federal, state, and county veterans benefits and resources.

The following programs and projects are the direct service delivery models that help eliminate homelessness and facilitate self-sufficiency for women veterans and their family members. LOMF addresses the needs of self-sufficiency through three distinct industries, (1) Hotel & Hospitality, (2) Travel & Tourism, and (3) Fashion Design. These needs also include housing, employment, quality childcare, Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) and Military Sexual Trauma (MST) counseling.
