About Us
After Janis was reassigned to Fort Gordon, GA from Germany, she later reenlisted so the military would grant her a Permanent Change of Station (PCS) to Fort Lewis, WA in 1980; this is where she would retire and her husband would subsequently become a Law Enforcement Officer.
Janis was Gubernatorial Appointed to the WA State Sentencing Guidelines Commission by Governor Gary Locke and confirmed by the WA State Senate. Janis was elected to the Pierce County Charter Review Commission in 2005 and then again in 2015 in the 27* Legislative District, 6th Congressional District. Janis is currently an elected Precinct Committee Officer (PCO) in the 30th Legislative District, 9th Congressional District.
Janis is the founder and visionary of Safe Homes aka Safe Homes Intl, a community-based, nonprofit organization with three distinct divisions: 1) Youth Career Aptitude Project Services (CAPS) Division: Focused on helping youth become more productive, caring, and socially responsible members of society, 2) Ladies Operation Moving Forward (LOMF) Women Veterans Division:
Concentrating on fulfilling the needs and addressing the unique challenges of women veterans, and 3) Military Wellness Initiative Network (MILWIN) Division: Provides digital navigation services, life skills, education, mentorship, apprenticeship, leadership, and job readiness to Active-Duty Military, National Guard, Reservist, Veterans and Their Families.
